Your Hideaway in Bar Al Hikman
The Untouched Gem of Oman
Welcome to CrossingOman Base Camp, an exclusive eco-retreat along one of Oman’s most magical coastlines. Nestled in the remote region of Bar Al Hikman—often called the “Maldives of Oman”—our intimate beachfront camp offers the perfect escape for those seeking tranquility, simplicity, and a deep connection with nature, without compromising on comfort.
Bar Al Hikman is famous for its shallow turquoise lagoons, dazzling white sandbanks, flamingos, and migrating seabirds. The landscape shifts with the tides, creating endless photo opportunities, serene walks, and a rare sense of untouched wilderness. It’s also a beautiful place for snorkeling, where colorful reef fish and graceful turtles thrive in crystal-clear waters.
While there are other camps about 10 kilometers away, most sit closer to the main sandbank area where visitors stop briefly for photos. We’re different. CrossingOman Base Camp is set in a secluded, pristine spot far from the crowds, offering a peaceful and deeply personal experience. With just four luxurious sea-facing tents, there’s ample space to disconnect and truly unwind.
Each tent combines rustic desert charm with modern comfort, featuring cozy beds, solar-powered lighting, and shared bathrooms with showers and European-style toilets—so you enjoy nature without sacrificing essential luxuries.
From your tent, you might spot dolphins or turtles gliding by the shoreline.
We also take pride in caring for our environment. We regularly clean our stretch of beach from plastic debris brought in by fishing boats and follow a no-waste, eco-conscious philosophy in everything we do.
This is more than a stay—it’s an experience designed for travelers who appreciate beauty, serenity, and sustainable luxury.
Disconnect to reconnect. With only four sea-facing tents, peace, privacy, and purpose define your stay.

What is Bar Al Hikman?
Bar Al Hikman is a remote coastal peninsula on Oman’s eastern shore—a truly wild ecosystem where desert meets ocean. It’s a place of quiet drama: vast salt flats, shallow turquoise bays, and skies filled with migratory birds.
From our camp, you can often see Masirah Island shimmering on the horizon. Traditional fishing boats and wooden dhows pass by, tracing the coastline as they’ve done for centuries. And if you’re lucky, you might spot turtles or dolphins, right from your tent.
Here, nature isn’t just near—it’s all around you.
Bar Al Hikman offers:
- Expansive salt flats and tidal lagoons
- Seasonal bird sanctuaries with flamingos, spoonbills, and more
- Rich marine life in protected coastal waters
- The nearby village of Mahout, with its coastal traditions and local charm
It’s one of Oman’s last untouched places—raw, open, and unforgettable.
